5 Unforgivable Sins Of What Are The Facts About Panic Disorder

If you are here, the odds are that you have experienced firsthand what it feels like to be plagued with panic attacks. The feeling of being out of control can seem surreal and even terrifying. It can happen at any time and in any place. You may feel as if the world is spinning out of control, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. That is where Gratitude Lodge helps you. We understand Facts About Panic Disorders and how they work. We had helped thousands of people get through them so they could once again enjoy the things they normally did before becoming victims of panic disorder.

Facts About Panic Disorder- What Are Panic Attacks?

Panic attacks are feelings of fear and anxiety, accompanied by symptoms such as sweating, trembling, shortness of breath and a pounding heart. These episodes usually begin suddenly and may last from several minutes to several hours. People with panic attacks often feel like they are having a heart attack or going crazy. The attacks can be so frightening that people may suffer in silence rather than risk embarrassment or even seek help.

It is also important to remember that antidepressant medications might cause symptoms of panic disorder. They are not the same as an anxiety attack. The causes of these feelings often stem from these medications’ side effects. They can include insomnia, nausea, and fatigue. If you have these symptoms, you may want to talk with your doctor about how to manage them.

What are Panic Disorder Criteria?

1. Recurrent unexpected panic attacks:

The panic attacks occur on average at least once a month for at least three months.

The person has at least one of the symptoms caused by the attacks above. This symptom can include a pounding heart, sweating, trembling, and shortness of breath. The symptoms above must have been present to consider someone with panic disorder. The other symptoms vary from person to person and include dizziness, stomach aches, and nausea.

2. Presence of Agoraphobia:

Another symptom that must be present to diagnose the panic disorder is the presence of agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is a condition that makes it difficult for someone to leave their home or even go outside. Their fear can be overwhelming, and they often do not want to go out in public. They might also be afraid to leave their home and go places alone, even if they were once very social and went out a lot with friends and family.

3. The presence of ongoing problems with substance abuse:

People who do have panic attacks tend to often self-medicate in some way. That can include using marijuana, smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol. They often feel that the substance will somehow stop their panic attacks or make them feel better. Unfortunately, this is not the case. People who use these substances also tend to develop an addiction and a physical dependence.

4. Ongoing problems with substance abuse:

The use of alcohol or drugs is a recurrent problem and leads to significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. The person continues to use substances despite the relationship their substance use has with these things. They tend to feel that their substance abuse is out of control and causes many problems and losses. They may also feel ashamed about the problem and want help.

5. Relationship with the person’s mental health professional:

The person knows that their substance abuse causes problems, and they want to get treatment. They consult a therapist or counsellor because they lack the knowledge or skills necessary to handle the situation on their own. The condition has not been resolved despite numerous therapies that they have undergone. Even though they continue to work on it, nothing has changed.
